George Lopez Comedy Award Scholarship

The George Lopez Comedy Award Scholarship Program will reward $250 scholarships to Latinx high school seniors with a distinct sense of humor who demonstrate potential to pursue careers in entertainment.

Program participants will have the opportunity to explore their comedic sensibilities and creative talents through workshops, guest speaker lectures and Q&A’s, and creative projects. This initiative is intended to close the disparity in Latinx representation in the fields of entertainment, including acting, standup, screenwriting, and producing.

About the Scholarship

Scholarship

$250 scholarship
Access to workshops in stand up comedy, improv comedy, and screenwriting
Invitations to virtual talks with guest speakers in the entertainment industry
Participation in creative projects

Eligibility

Student will ideally identify as Latinx
Student must be a rising senior
Student must demonstrate comedic qualities befitting of the high school superlative, “Class Clown,” as observed by peers and teachers
Student must demonstrate potential to apply themself to a long-term program

Participating Schools

High Schools in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area participate in this scholarship program by invitation.
